The school year has only just started, yet these two past weeks have been exploding with fun! Last week was spirit week. Every student showed their school and team spirit by participating in dress up days and other spirit related activities.
On Monday, students dressed up in their team colors. The school was filled with so much blue, brown, green, and yellow that our eyes hurt! (Blue for Tzfat, green for Tiberias, brown for Chevron, and yellow for Jerusalem!) It was exciting to see the participation from the students and how much they enjoyed it. We think that dressing in team colors really added to the enthusiasm.
Teachers make up a gigantic part of our lives, so middle school students wanted to thank them. In order to do so, Tuesday became "Teacher Tuesday." Students brought cards and gifts for their teachers. Some students brought flowers and cookies or gift baskets. However, most students made their teachers cards. By doing this, the new teachers in the school got a chance to see that our students are very appreciative people!
This Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday. People dressed up very wacky, in order to win points or blue tickets for their team (and because it's always fun to dress wacky!). Three of the highlights were: Team Tiberias’ captain, Danelle Tuchman, was wearing a super sparkly fedora, Gryffindor knee socks and fingerless gloves! Team Chevron’s captain, Ellie Kaye was wearing a fedora that looked like a cow. Lastly, Chevron’s own, Max Westerman was wearing pajama pants, a cowboy bandana, knee socks, and a polo shirt. That was a very wacky day.
Thursday, or Twin Day, was very exciting. All the students got to match with one of their friends, and came to school wearing the same outfits. It was really fun guessing who the other person's twin was. Many of the students participated in Twin Day. It might have been the most spirited day of the whole week. In fact, almost everyone came to school with a twin! It was amazing!!
In honor of Shabbat, on Friday we all dressed up in our Shabbat clothes. The students that participated not only showed team spirit, hence earning points for their team, but they also looked amazing. This spirit day was particularly special because it emphasized the beauty of Shabbat.
